Event Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers of all kinds are needed for the 10th Anniversary PAWS FOR LOVE to be held on February 7, 2009. Paws for Love relies on the generosity of the many kind hearts who gather together to present this very special fundraiser. The time you give – whether a little or a lot – may mean the difference between life and death for an unwanted pet. We are looking forward to another successful evening of fun, food, wine and art to raise much-needed funds to help the animals whose lives depend on the resources we provide.

A variety of jobs are available, such as: collecting auction donations around the County and hanging up posters prior to the event, setting up the auction tables, greeting guests and taking tickets the night of the event, assisting with the auctions as table monitors, or highlighting the unique animal-created art on our Gallery Wall. With food, wine, and entertainment filling out the evening, there are plenty of areas where your help is needed!

Come learn more about our volunteering opportunities at one of the short volunteer meetings that will take place on Saturday, December 6th, and again on January 24th, from 10-11 AM at Bowen Hall, Church of the Roses (rear of building), 2500 Patio Ct., Santa Rosa (across from Lucky’s in Montgomery Village). Coffee, tea and pastries will be served.

We're very excited about our new venue at the Finley Community Center on West College Ave. at Stony Point, and believe it will be a welcome change for all. But this does mean that we will have to make some significant, yet positive and beneficial, changes to our volunteer procedures.

Because the Paws for Love event will be held in a new location, we will need to familiarize our volunteers with new procedures and policies. As a result, we must make attendance at ONE of the pre-event volunteer meetings mandatory. Please understand that we won't be able to make any exceptions, so mark your calendar for one or both dates.

For more information, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Terrie O’Dell through email or by phone at 707.546.2626

We really appreciate your dedication to Paws for Love. The time and effort you provide will help ensure a successful 10th anniversary!

Paws for Love Painted With The Animals
At These 2008 Events!

Bay Area Pet Fair logo

Does your dog have a talent for painting? Or does he just prefer hanging out with his special "peeps" for a day on the green? If so, you will enjoy this annual September event held at the Marin Center in San Rafael. The Bay Area Pet Fair & Adoptathon is a pet-friendly and unFURgettable weekend of quality entertainment brought to you by FETCH THE PAPER.

There are exhibitors and vendors of all kinds. Performances, demonstrations, seminars, and contests! And don’t forget "The Other Dog Show" – where contestants walk the Red Carpet...and the winner might even be a rabbit! The Pet Fair judges are always looking for entries, and your pet may just be a WINNER!!! Check their website for details on how to enter.

And, if a Best Friend is missing from your life, many Bay Area rescue groups and shelters offer animals available for adoption.

Paws for Love was on hand from 10-5 Saturday and Sunday to lend a paw to many talented pooches who created original paintings. For a small donation, proud owners took home a cherished creation - ready for framing - painted by their favorite fur-friend.

Foppiano, Flappers, & Fun!

On Saturday September 13 2008, Foppiano Winery hosted an afternoon of wine, music, food, and flappers. The Tasting Room and surrounding vineyard were transformed into a Roaring Twenties speakeasy fit for Al Capone or F. Scott Fitzgerald. 1920s attire was optional, and a secret password ("Lou sent me!") was needed at the door.

This was a dog-friendly event where many "Canine Capones" painted for 2 hours. The event also featured music, wine, appetizers, a "Poker Run" through the vineyard, and dinner.

Paws for Love is presented by Ellyn Jaques Boone and the Paws for Love Foundation. Proceeds from this gala event greatly benefit the animals of Sonoma County, the North Bay, and beyond. The Paws for Love Foundation provides resources and funding to shelters, rescue groups, and individuals dedicated to improving the health, welfare, and adoptability of unwanted and abused animals. Funds raised by this event are also used to rehabilitate adoptable animals by providing necessary medical treatment, food and training for animals in foster care programs.

We are now in the process of gearing up for our FEBRUARY 7, 2009 Paws for Love benefit. For more information about donating items or services to our PAWS FOR LOVE auction, please contact Ellyn Boone (707-857-3499) or Cindy Goede (707-696-2564). If you or your company donate $200 or more to this event, you will receive two free tickets to our next PAWS FOR LOVE Gala. You will also receive the Paws for Love Newsletter.

Open your heart and home to adoptable animals waiting for you!
